Your home is special. It’s where you’ve been waiting, anticipating this baby’s arrival, where the little nursery awaits and the cuddles begin. When we photograph your newborn in your home, it becomes more than a backdrop—it becomes a part of your story. Here are some simple tips to prepare your space so we can capture you and your baby authentically and beautifully.

Light & Space

Choose a room with generous natural light. Windows without heavy blinds or curtains are ideal.

Clear small clutter — not everything. You don’t need perfect magazine-style staging. Just a comfortable space where the focus is your family.

Consider setting the thermostat a little warmer for baby’s comfort.

Home Comforts

Have your baby’s swaddle, blanket, and favorite piece ready (if you like) so we can incorporate those personal touches.

For siblings or parents: consider neutral, soft outfits (think cream, tan, soft greens or blues). The less distraction in clothing, the more timeless your images will feel.

Have a bottle or pacifier ready in case your baby needs some extra soothing during our time together.

Family Flow

Don’t worry if the house isn’t “perfect.” It’s your home. Some lived-in love adds character.

Plan to treat siblings with a calm mindset ahead of the session — maybe a small snack or a fun game so they’re ready to participate and love on baby.

Let everyone know: this is casual, relaxed, and about connection — not a time for big props or major setup.

When your home feels like you and your hearts are calm and connected, that’s all the backdrop you need.

If you’re expecting and ready to plan your newborn session in your home, I’d love to document your story. Let’s create images that feel like you.
